Clayton County Officer Injured in Gunfire Exchange with Suspect in Critical Condition Following SWAT Standoff

A Clayton County police officer was injured during a gunfire exchange with a suspect, who is currently in critical condition, following a standoff on Summer Chase Drive on Tuesday evening. Officers initially responded to a report of a shooting near Arrowhead Boulevard and later located the suspect at a residence, leading to a prolonged negotiation that ultimately ended in a SWAT intervention. Both the officer, who sustained a leg injury but is expected to recover, and the suspect were transported to a hospital, and the GBI has been requested to investigate the incident.
