Decatur Man Sentenced to Life in Prison for Fatal Shooting of Tenant During Dispute
On Tuesday, Danny John Marillo Hunter, 34, was sentenced to life in prison for the fatal shooting of Kateasha Cardell, 40, during a confrontation on September 22, 2021, in Decatur. Hunter was convicted of felony murder and several other charges after he shot Cardell and her fiancé, Karlo Dupree, following a dispute over charges on a bank account related to the property they rented from Hunter's father. Cardell, who is survived by two children, was shot in the back of the neck and later died from her injuries.
