DeKalb County Parents Face Involuntary Manslaughter Charges After Teen Alcohol Incident Leads to Fatal Crash
The case against Sumanth Rao, 50, and Anindita Rao, 49, from DeKalb County, has progressed to court following their arrests for allegedly permitting underage drinking at their home, which led to a fatal crash involving 18-year-old Sophia Lekiachvili. Both parents face charges of involuntary manslaughter and reckless conduct after their daughter and two friends consumed alcohol before leaving for a drive that resulted in a high-speed crash. The Raos have retained attorney Manny Arora, who plans to challenge the allegations and has indicated that the case may take up to a year to reach trial.
