Firefighters Injured and Evacuated After Roof Collapse During Gwinnett Fire
A Gwinnett County firefighter was injured and nine others were evacuated after the roof of an office building collapsed during a fire on Saturday night. Fire crews responded around 7:15 p.m. to a business fire in the 4500 block of Nelson Brogdon Boulevard after 911 callers reported flames coming from BenchMark Physical Therapy. Spokesperson Jessica Joiner stated that when firefighters arrived, they found the roof ablaze and deployed two hose lines to combat the fire while searching inside the building. As firefighters looked for possible victims, officials reported that the roof of the two-story building collapsed. Joiner indicated that at that moment, all firefighting crews exited the building for safety. Fortunately, no additional injuries were reported among the firefighting teams. The incident highlights the dangers faced by first responders during such emergencies. The fire's cause is under investigation.
