Former Atlanta Police Officer Arrested for Allegedly Soliciting Child for Sex in Augusta

Benjamin Hopson, a 34-year-old former Atlanta police officer, was arrested in Augusta for allegedly offering a 14-year-old boy $200 to perform a sexual act, according to court records. The incident occurred on June 1, when Hopson approached the victim in an apartment complex and solicited prostitution. Prior to his termination from the Atlanta Police Department on August 23, 2024, Hopson had been assigned to non-enforcement duties since May 19, 2023, and had a law enforcement certification that had lapsed due to training deficiencies.
