Former Customs Officer Convicted for Smuggling Nearly 18 Kilograms of Cocaine at Atlanta Airport

Ivan Van Beverhoudt, a former U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer, was convicted in federal court this week for attempting to smuggle nearly 18 kilograms of cocaine through Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in January 2020. He was found guilty of multiple drug-related charges, while being acquitted of a gun charge, and is facing sentencing on May 29. Acting U.S. Attorney Richard S. Moultrie Jr. stated that Van Beverhoudt abused his position to facilitate drug trafficking, and law enforcement efforts led to his arrest.
