Georgia Welcomes Asher the Comfort Dog to Support Crime Victims and Enhance Community Healing
  • Share on:

Asher, a Labradoodle comfort dog, has been introduced as a new employee of the Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles and the Georgia Office of Victim Services, making Georgia the first state to incorporate a comfort dog into its paroling authority. Working with handler Mandy Kimner, Asher will assist crime victims and others facing trauma, help state employees manage stress, and participate in community events. The comfort dog program was inspired by a therapy dog from South Carolina, leading to its implementation in Georgia following a 2022 conference.
