A grandmother was killed and her 14-year-old grandson was seriously injured on Thursday after being struck by a vehicle fleeing from DeKalb police. The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on Covington Highway near Miller Road, close to Miller Grove Middle School where the teen is a student. Authorities reported that the vehicle involved was driving recklessly and had been fleeing from police. The police attempted to stop the vehicle prior to the incident, which resulted in the tragic outcome. Officials indicated that the vehicle was involved in a high-speed chase before the crash. The grandmother and grandson were walking when they were hit by the vehicle, which continued to flee the scene.
