Intoxicated Woman Charged in Hit-and-Run Death of 71-Year-Old Man in Atlanta Hotel District

Atlanta police arrested 30-year-old Portia Taylor of Acworth on charges of first-degree vehicular homicide, hit-and-run resulting in death, and driving under the influence after she struck and killed 71-year-old Michael Crabtree while he was crossing a street in the hotel district on May 18. Following the fatal incident, which occurred near Peachtree and Baker streets, Taylor fled the scene and was later involved in another hit-and-run crash in Cobb County. Investigators tracked her vehicle to a nearby strip club and found her with an open bottle of tequila and drugs in her car, leading to her arrest shortly after she returned to work at the club.
