Changes to visitor access at Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park in Cobb County are set to begin in January 2026, following a proposal to ban cars from the top of the mountain. The decision comes in response to increasing visitor numbers, projected to reach nearly 1.5 million in 2024, which have made the two-lane Kennesaw Mountain Drive unsafe for mixed traffic. Under the new plan, vehicles will be replaced by shuttle services, and cyclists will have limited access, as park officials prioritize safety due to the road's narrow width and hazardous conditions.
