Massive Meth Bust at Atlanta Farmers Market Uncovers Over a Ton of Drugs Hidden in Celery Shipment
More than a metric ton of methamphetamine, concealed in a shipment of celery, was seized at a metro Atlanta farmers market last week, marking the largest bust in the area and the third-largest in the nation this year, according to DEA Atlanta Special Agent Robert Murphy. The 2,585-pound seizure, valued at approximately $3.2 million, led to the arrest of 40-year-old Jesus Martinez Martinez, who has been charged with trafficking meth and is being held without bond in DeKalb County jail. The investigation continues as authorities focus on combating the Sinaloa and Jalisco cartels, which are linked to a significant portion of the methamphetamine crisis in the U.S.
