Murder Suspect Arrested Following SWAT Standoff at Oakland Park Townhomes in Atlanta
On October 5, 2024, a shooting at Oakland Park Townhomes in southwest Atlanta resulted in the death of 28-year-old Eric Jones Jr., who suffered multiple gunshot wounds during a dispute over money. A SWAT team was deployed after police believed the suspect, 21-year-old Tyshier Denike, had retreated into a nearby townhome, but he was not found at the scene. Denike was arrested on October 6 and is facing charges of murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, with no bond set.
