New Orleans Tragedy: Driver Intentionally Strikes Crowd in Suspected Terror Attack on New Year’s Day

Investigators are treating an early morning incident on January 1, 2024, in the French Quarter of New Orleans as an act of terrorism after a driver, identified as 42-year-old Shamsud Din Jabbar, intentionally drove around police barricades, striking and killing ten people while injuring 35 others. The FBI reported that Jabbar was carrying an ISIS flag and engaged in a shootout with officers, injuring two before being killed. New Orleans police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick stated the attack was deliberate, and officials have urged the public to avoid the area as they continue their investigation.
