Newnan Republican Operative Brant Frost IV Faces SEC Lawsuit Over Alleged 140 Million Ponzi Scheme

NEWNAN — Brant Frost IV, a prominent figure in the Republican Party's ultraconservative wing, faces serious legal troubles as the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has filed a lawsuit against him and his investment firm, First Liberty Building & Loan, accusing them of operating a Ponzi scheme that defrauded approximately 300 investors of at least $140 million. The SEC alleges Frost misappropriated funds for personal expenses, including political donations, and after shutting down the firm on June 27, a federal judge has frozen its assets. Friends and associates express shock over the situation, emphasizing Frost's previously strong ties to the community and his philanthropic efforts, while some investors, like Richard Hortman, now grapple with significant financial losses.
