Pastor Fired After Arrest for Child Cruelty at Atlanta Church

An investigation began at Creekside Christian Academy, a private school in Henry County, following a police incident report. A 15-year-old boy informed the assistant principal that he had blood on the back of his pants, prompting further inquiry. The assistant principal verified the stain and reported it to authorities. Kenneth McFarland, a pastor at 2819 Church in southwest Atlanta, was arrested on November 10 for second-degree cruelty to children. He was reportedly charged after the boy alleged he was struck with a power cord before arriving at school. Church leaders stated they immediately suspended McFarland upon learning of the charges, and he subsequently agreed to step down from his position. By Tuesday, McFarland, 42, was officially dismissed from the church staff. The Henry County fire department documented bruising on the boy's thigh and buttocks, further substantiating the claims. Church leaders emphasized their commitment to a violence-free environment, particularly concerning children, stating that the accusations do not reflect their community values.
