Police Shoot Armed Teen Following Disturbing 911 Call in Sugar Hill
On Friday evening, police shot and killed 17-year-old Brayden Hemphill after he charged at officers while armed with a knife near downtown Sugar Hill. Hemphill had called 911, indicating he was suicidal and wanted to harm himself and others, prompting a response from the Behavioral Health Unit. Despite attempts to negotiate and commands to drop the weapon, he advanced toward officers, leading to the fatal shooting; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
