Five soldiers were shot at Fort Stewart in southeast Georgia on Wednesday, prompting a lockdown of the U.S. Army base around 11 a.m. The situation occurred in the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team area, leading nearby Appling County and Liberty County schools to also implement lockdowns. Governor Brian Kemp expressed his condolences and stated that his office is in close contact with law enforcement regarding the ongoing situation.
