Two Children Injured in DeKalb County After Finding Stolen Firearm Linked to Armed Robbery

Two children were injured on Wednesday in a DeKalb County home after a 7-year-old discovered a firearm linked to an armed robbery, which accidentally discharged. The incident happened around 12:20 p.m. on Carillon Lane, resulting in the 7-year-old being shot in the leg and a 3-year-old being grazed by a bullet fragment. Both children were taken to Arthur M. Blank Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while 20-year-old Ahmad McGirt of Conyers was charged with two counts of second-degree cruelty to children and theft by receiving a stolen firearm.
