Atlanta Man Sentenced to Five Years for Involuntary Manslaughter in Childhood Friend's Shooting Death

Allen Pitts, 29, was sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the shooting death of his childhood friend, Cordale Duncan, at the Magnolia Park apartment complex in northwest Atlanta on September 2, 2023. In addition to the manslaughter charge, Pitts also pleaded guilty to a gun possession charge, while other charges were dropped. His sentence includes two years of probation with conditions such as random drug testing and participation in a victim impact course, and he will receive credit for time served from September 23, 2023, to March 4, 2024.
