An Atlanta police officer was seriously injured after crashing his patrol vehicle into a house near Bankhead late Monday. According to authorities, the officer was responding to a call just after 8 p.m. from another officer who requested assistance amid a fight involving someone being arrested. The incident occurred on Sunset Avenue, just two blocks from the crash site. The officer lost control of the vehicle at the intersection of James P. Brawley Drive and North Avenue, as reported by the Georgia State Patrol, which is investigating the accident. The patrol car crashed into the back of a house on that corner lot. Atlanta police Deputy Chief Charles Hampton Jr. confirmed the details of the incident. The officer was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment. The condition of the officer has not been released, and police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
