Body of Missing Atlanta Teacher Gary Jones Found in Lake Oconee After Monthlong Search

LAKE OCONEE — The search for Gary Jones, a 50-year-old metro Atlanta teacher and coach, concluded on Sunday when his body was discovered 45 feet underwater in Lake Oconee. Jones and his fiancée, Joycelyn Wilson, who was found dead earlier, were last seen alive on February 8 while on a fishing trip. Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills stated that the investigation will close unless the autopsy reveals unusual findings, leaving the circumstances surrounding their deaths largely unanswered.
