Tractor-trailer train crash halts MARTA service in southwest Atlanta

Early Friday morning, a crash occurred between a tractor-trailer and a train near Lee and Sparks streets in southwest Atlanta. The incident took place shortly before 4 a.m. and resulted in a blaze that consumed the truck's cab and trailer, as well as debris along the railroad. Firefighters successfully extinguished the fire, and officials reported that no injured victims were found at the scene. The driver of the tractor-trailer was also not located. MARTA rail service was temporarily halted as a result of the crash, impacting the morning commute for many passengers. Officials clarified that the train involved was not operated by the Atlanta transit agency.
