Two Cherokee County deputies charged for misuse of license plate reader data
Two Cherokee County Sheriff’s deputies, Lt. Chris Bryant, 45, and Sgt. Mike Creeden, 35, are facing charges for violating their oaths of office. They are accused of using the department’s license plate reader database for non-law enforcement purposes. The arrests occurred nearly two weeks after another deputy faced similar allegations. Sheriff’s office spokesperson Capt. Jay Baker confirmed that both deputies have been fired from their positions. They were booked into the Cherokee County jail and released on bonds totaling $3,812 before 7:30 p.m. on Monday. This incident has raised concerns regarding the misuse of law enforcement resources. The sheriff’s office is emphasizing the importance of accountability and integrity within its ranks. The investigation continues as authorities seek to address the breach of policy related to the use of license plate data.
