Brookhaven Home Invasion Ends in Police Shooting After Dramatic Pursuit and Crash
A home invasion in Brookhaven on Thursday night resulted in a police pursuit and an officer-involved shooting, according to the GBI. The incident began around 11 p.m. when a homeowner reported four armed suspects inside her house, leading to a confrontation with a friend of the homeowner. The suspects fled in a silver Lexus, crashed near a CarMax dealership in Chamblee, and during the ensuing chaos, one suspect, Albert Eugene Burns, 19, was shot by police after allegedly brandishing a firearm; he was hospitalized in critical but stable condition. Two other suspects were arrested, while a fourth remains at large, and the GBI is conducting an independent investigation.
