Garrett Tyler Betts, an 18-year-old from Douglasville, was sentenced to seven years in prison after causing a crash that resulted in the death of 15-year-old Ryan Chase Huckeba in Cobb County. The incident occurred in August 2023 when Betts was allegedly drag racing, reaching speeds of 104 mph in a 45-mph zone before colliding with a tree. Huckeba, a sophomore at Villa Rica High School, was ejected from the vehicle and died, while Betts sustained injuries and faced multiple charges, including first-degree vehicular homicide.
