Deputy Shoots Man Armed with Handgun During Arrest Attempt in DeKalb County
On Thursday, October 5, 2023, in DeKalb County, a man identified as Marquiece Beadle, 34, was shot by a deputy while law enforcement attempted to arrest him on outstanding warrants for murder and sale of a controlled substance. The incident occurred around 4 p.m. on Covington Highway when Beadle allegedly pulled out a handgun after encountering a deputy, prompting the officer to fire. Beadle was transported to a hospital, and the GBI is conducting an independent investigation at the request of the U.S. Marshals Service.
