The Douglas County District Attorney's Office announced on Tuesday that no charges will be filed against a driver who fatally shot 20-year-old Malachi Mitchell during a planned gun sale on January 29. DA Dalia Racine explained that the driver acted in self-defense after Mitchell attempted to rob him by lunging for the gun, and the evidence did not support a case for prosecution. The driver, who fled the scene fearing retaliation from Mitchell's associates, was later apprehended by law enforcement, and Racine emphasized the tragic nature of the incident.
