A federal judge in Atlanta ruled on Wednesday that Toyota cannot dismiss a lawsuit claiming it is responsible for the carbon monoxide poisoning death of Lee Griffin, who left his 2017 Tacoma idling in his garage. U.S. District Judge Thomas Thrash Jr. stated that a jury should determine the claims brought by Caroline Griffin, who alleges that the vehicle's lack of an automatic engine shut-off contributed to her husband's death. The lawsuit asserts that Toyota was aware of the dangers associated with the vehicle's design and failed to provide adequate warnings, a claim Toyota disputes.
