Former Georgia State Trooper Found Guilty of Vehicular Homicide Nearly a Decade After Fatal Crash in Carroll County

On August 18, 2025, former Georgia State trooper Anthony "AJ" Scott was found guilty on five of six charges, including vehicular homicide, after a 2015 crash in Carroll County that resulted in the deaths of two teenagers. Scott, who was driving at 66 mph in a 55 mph zone without sirens or lights, collided with a sedan carrying four teens, two of whom died. Sentencing has not yet been scheduled, but Scott faces up to 30 years in prison following a lengthy legal battle that included a mistrial in 2019.
