Former Hapeville Police Officer Indicted for Excessive Force Against Handcuffed Detainee

A former Hapeville police officer, Shevoy Brown, has been indicted on February 12, 2024, for using excessive force after allegedly using a Taser on a handcuffed detainee in a holding cell last year. Prosecutors claim Brown used the Taser at least six times without justification and subsequently wrote a false report to conceal his actions. After the incident, he was placed on administrative leave and later fired on June 20, 2024, following an investigation by the GBI.
