Panel to Decide Fate of Cobb County Clerk Connie Taylor Amid Criminal Charges for Document Destruction

Gov. Brian Kemp has established a three-person panel to evaluate whether Cobb County Superior Court Clerk Connie Taylor should remain in her position amid her criminal case. Taylor was indicted on charges of instructing an employee to destroy public documents related to an open records request, facing two counts of destruction of public records and two counts of violating her oath of office. The panel, which includes two Georgia clerks and a retired Georgia Supreme Court justice, is tasked with reviewing the indictment and providing a recommendation to the governor within two weeks.
