Mother charged with murder after leaving son in hot car at daycare
Deja Coleman, 29, is facing charges after her 1-year-old son died in her car while parked at Northside Hospital Gwinnett. According to police, Coleman forgot her son in his car seat after dropping off her older children at daycare on her way to work. Police spokesperson Captain Dena Pauly stated that it was a tragic mistake, emphasizing that Coleman usually retrieves her baby after dropping off the older kids. Unfortunately, she forgot to make that second trip yesterday morning. Coleman has been charged with second-degree murder and cruelty to children. The incident highlights ongoing concerns about child safety in vehicles, particularly during hot weather. Authorities are reminding parents to always check their vehicles to ensure no child is left behind. This incident is part of a broader issue that has seen an increase in child deaths due to being left in hot cars.
