Former National Guard Member Convicted of Murdering Girlfriend in Smyrna Motel Shooting

Selena Kellum, 26, was found guilty of felony murder for the shooting death of her girlfriend, Shaikia Strong, 24, in a Smyrna motel on December 23, 2021. After the shooting, Kellum fled to Mississippi, hiding evidence and stealing items from Strong before turning herself in on December 31. In addition to felony murder, Kellum was convicted of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during a felony, tampering with evidence, and entering an automobile, with sentencing to be determined by Cobb Superior Court Judge Kimberly Childs.
