Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis' office has been ordered by a judge to pay over $54,000 in attorney fees and to release documents it withheld in violation of Georgia's Open Records Act. The ruling, made by Fulton County Superior Court Judge Rachel Krause, found that the DA's office intentionally failed to comply with public records requests made by defense attorney Ashleigh Merchant, who sought information related to Willis' hiring of a special prosecutor for the Trump election interference case. The judge criticized the office's handling of the requests as "openly hostile" and lacking good faith, while a spokesperson for Willis indicated plans to appeal the decision.
