Alton Deshawn Oliver was acquitted of murder and aggravated assault charges on Friday in the December 2022 shooting death of off-duty Fulton County Deputy James Thomas, 24, after claiming self-defense. Oliver testified that Thomas made unwanted sexual advances before he shot him inside Thomas' vehicle.
