On Saturday night, a Georgia State Patrol trooper shot and killed 26-year-old Cameron David James during a traffic stop on I-85 in Coweta County. The incident occurred around 8:40 p.m. when James, who was pulled over while driving a Nissan Altima, resisted arrest and reached for a gun after a failed Taser deployment. Following the shooting, James drove away but crashed on the interstate, where he was later pronounced dead at the scene. The GBI is investigating the incident, the seventh officer-involved shooting they have looked into in 2025.
