The U.S. Department of Justice has filed a lawsuit against Tanja Hollis, a tax return preparer from Griffin, Georgia, alleging that her fraudulent practices have cost the federal government millions in overpayments. The lawsuit claims that of the 47 tax returns examined, 43 contained false claims, with Hollis preparing over 5,000 returns from 2019 to 2024, 98% of which sought refunds. The DOJ seeks to prohibit Hollis and her company, Tanja Tax Preparations, from preparing tax returns and to recover fees received for the fraudulent services.
