Gwinnett County Couple Sentenced to 15 Years for Death of Baby Amir Vega in Child Abuse Case

A Gwinnett County mother, Dennisa Mary Vega, and her boyfriend, Jahlin Javante Corey, both 33, were sentenced to 15 years in prison for the abuse and death of her 10-month-old son, Amir Vega, in 2019. Amir was found with severe injuries, including a fractured skull and broken ribs, leading to his death shortly after being taken to the hospital. The couple was convicted of involuntary manslaughter and battery, and as part of their sentencing, they are prohibited from having unsupervised contact with children under 12.
