A Gwinnett County man, Jorge Alberto Ramirez, 35, has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for the murder of 23-year-old immigrant Pedro Lopez-Belloso in April 2021. Prosecutors stated that Ramirez shot Lopez-Belloso in the back of the head with an AR-15 rifle due to jealousy over his U.S. citizenship, and evidence indicated the killing was premeditated. Ramirez was convicted of multiple charges, including felony murder, after initially claiming the shooting was accidental.
