On July 2, Frank Young, a 59-year-old New Yorker who had recently moved to metro Atlanta, drowned while attempting to save a 4-year-old girl and her mother who had fallen into the Chattahoochee River at Garrard Landing. Despite not being able to swim, Young selflessly entered the water to help them reach safety but ultimately succumbed to the river's dangers. His actions have been described as courageous and selfless, and he is remembered for his kindness and dedication to helping others.
