Lightning Strike Destroys Forsyth County Rectory Home of Local Priests Leaving Community in Shock and Support

On February 16, a lightning strike during severe storms caused a fire that destroyed the rectory of the Legionaries of Christ in Forsyth County, leaving the home of approximately a dozen Catholic priests in ruins. Father Scott Reilly, who lived nearby, rushed to rescue Father Edward Mcilmail from the burning building, and thankfully, no injuries were reported. In the aftermath, the community has rallied to support the priests, raising over $112,000 through a GoFundMe page, as they continue their mission despite the loss of their home.
