MARTA to Begin Five Points Station Renovation This May After Lengthy Delays and Permit Disputes

MARTA will begin renovations at the Five Points Station on May 17 after a 10-month delay caused by disputes with the city of Atlanta over permit approvals. The $230 million project, funded by a halfpenny sales tax approved by voters in 2016, will include a new translucent roof and street-level bus bays, with construction expected to take four years. During this time, some station services will be relocated, and multiple bus routes will be adjusted, impacting transit operations in the area.
