On Thursday morning, deputies from the Paulding County sheriff's office fatally shot a man during a wellness check at a home on Hemlock Glen in Dallas after he opened fire, injuring one deputy. The 24-year-old deputy, who was struck in the shoulder, is expected to recover. Authorities indicated that the man's mother had expressed concerns about her son's behavior to her employer, prompting the wellness check, and suggested that mental illness may have played a role in the incident.
