Smyrna Man Arrested for Alleged Stabbing Death of Acquaintance in Apartment Incident

A man, Javi Aniel Silva Maldonado, was arrested early Monday after allegedly stabbing an acquaintance to death inside a Smyrna apartment on Atlanta Road on Sunday afternoon. Witnesses reported that Maldonado entered the apartment, grabbed a large kitchen knife, and stabbed the victim multiple times in the chest, leading to the victim's death during surgery at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital. After fleeing the scene, Maldonado was apprehended by police near Marietta, where he was found with suspected drugs and attempted to evade arrest; he now faces multiple charges, including murder and possession of illegal substances, and is being held without bond in Cobb jail.
