Spalding County Mother Granted New Trial After Judge Rules Attorney Conflict Led to Miscarriage of Justice

A judge has ruled that Tamara Nicole Weaver, a Spalding County mother imprisoned for over a decade due to a child abuse conviction, deserves a new trial due to a conflict of interest involving her former attorney, who also represented her husband. Weaver was granted a $100,000 bond and will be transferred to county jail as she prepares to present her case to the Georgia Supreme Court in November. Her attorneys argue that her previous lawyer was unable to introduce evidence of her husband's abuse, which could have proven her innocence, while the Georgia Attorney General's Office is appealing the ruling.
