A 16-year-old boy was killed in a crash while fleeing from troopers late Friday night in Covington, Georgia. The incident occurred around 10:17 p.m. when the driver of a gray Ford Fusion accelerated from a road check on Georgia 36, leading to a pursuit by the Newton County Sheriff's Office. The driver lost control of the vehicle after attempting to pass another car, striking a utility pole and resulting in his death at the scene, while a passenger was seriously injured and transported to Grady Memorial Hospital.
