Tragic Drowning of 25 Year Old Cherokee County Man at Lake Chatuge Shocks Community
A tragic drowning occurred on Saturday, September 23, 2023, when 25-year-old Brek Lewis Green from Cherokee County drowned in Lake Chatuge, Towns County. Green and a friend were swimming in the lake early in the morning when he went missing after the friend briefly left the area. His body was recovered later that day, and he was remembered by family as a recent Kennesaw State University graduate who was set to begin his master's degree in accounting. Visitation and services are scheduled for Friday at Poole Funeral Home in Woodstock.
