Warner Robins Police Officer Injured in Deadly Standoff with Armed Suspect Outside Middle Georgia Mall

On Friday morning, a standoff outside the Houston County Galleria mall in Middle Georgia resulted in the death of 37-year-old Michael Dwayne Bell from Fitzgerald and injuries to a Warner Robins police officer. The incident began shortly before 4 a.m. when Centerville police attempted to arrest Bell, who had been sought in connection with a prior domestic violence incident. After Bell refused to exit his tractor-trailer and fired at officers, a standoff ensued, ending around 6:20 a.m. when law enforcement found him deceased inside the vehicle; the injured officer is expected to recover.
