Alabama Man Charged with Capital Murder in Double Homicide of Roswell Attorneys Remains in Jail Indefinitely

Christopher Scott Johnson, 37, of Gadsden, Alabama, remains in jail without bond following his first appearance hearing on January 28, 2023, where he was charged with the capital murder of his in-laws, Mike McKenzie, 72, and Darla McKenzie, 68, from Roswell. During the hearing, it was revealed that Darla was shot 13 times and died in the hospital, while Mike was found dead at the scene with four gunshot wounds. The case will be referred to a grand jury, with a status hearing scheduled for May 1, 2023, as the defense awaits further evidence.
