Roya Shahidi, a 64-year-old Iranian American living in Atlanta, expressed her heartbreak over the recent Israeli bombing campaign in Tehran, fearing for her relatives and the impact on civilians. With around 8,300 individuals of Iranian descent in metro Atlanta, many are grappling with complex emotions regarding the military strikes, as they worry about repercussions for their families in Iran and face increased anti-Muslim sentiment in the U.S. Community members, including Atlanta City Council member Amir Farokhi and human rights lawyer Azadeh Shahshahani, emphasize the need for civilian safety and caution against U.S. intervention in Iran, advocating for the rights of the Iranian people to determine their own future.
